Temperature in Odisha touches 37°C mark for the first time in 2025

Bhubaneswar: Temperature in Odisha reportedly touched the 37°C mark for the first time in 2025, informed weather scientist Umasankar Das on his X handle.

According to Das, Jharsuguda reported 37 degree Celsius, the highest temperature of the day and also of this year. Jharsuguda, which is called as “Powerhouse of Odisha” due to its Mega Steel, Aluminium & Power Projects, had recorded a temperature of 36.4°C by 2.30 PM.

With 36.6°C, Jharsuguda had reported yesterday’s highest temperature of the State. By 2.30 PM, the maximum temperature had already risen to 35.6°C on Tuesday.

On the other hand, the State Capital city of Bhubaneswar witnessed a temperature of 34.8°C today. It was 34.4°C at .30 PM.

The maximum temperature is expected to rise further as the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today predicted that the minimum temperature (night temperature) is very likely to gradually fall by 3-5 oC during next 4 days and no large change thereafter over the districts of Odisha and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of the State for the next seven days.

The weather department also forecasted that shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur during early morning hours at one or two places over the district of North Coastal Odisha till 8.30 AM of February 13.
