Temperature crosses 40 degrees in Odisha for first time in 2025 as Boudh boils at 40.5 °C

Bhubaneswar: Temperature crossed the 40 degree Celsius-mark in Odisha for the first time in 2025 as Boudh boiled at 40.5 °C, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD),
The latest data of the IMD revealed that while Boudh reported the highest temperature of the day (40.5 °C), Balangir reported today’s second highest temperature as it witnessed a temperature of 39.9 degree Celsius. It was followed by Jharsuguda and Sundargarh as they witnessed a temperature of 39.4°C while 39.3°C temperature was recorded in Sambalpur.
Likewise, mercury at Hirakud rose to 38.7 degree Celsius while Rourkela sizzled at 38.4°C. Besides, Chandbali in Bhadrak district witnessed 37.6°C temperature today. Besides, Keonjhar and Balasore saw a temperature of 37°C and 36°C respectively.
The IMD also informed that the residents of Bhubaneswar, the State Capital City, witnessed a temperature of 36.6 degrees today.
Meanwhile, the weather department has issued a heatwave warning for Odisha for the next four days. It issued both yellow and orange warnings for several districts which are likely to witness intense heatwave conditions from tomorrow.
The weatherman also predicted that the maximum temperature (day temperature) is very likely to gradually rise by 2-3 degree Celsius during next five days over the districts of Odisha.
