Telangana: TSRTC urges women to carry original ID cards

Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) on Monday issued an appeal to women passengers to produce their original identity documents to avail the free travel service ‘Maha Lakshmi’. The passenger’s photograph and address must be clearly visible on the identity document. Any original identity document issued by the Central and State Governments is applicable to this scheme. TSRTC officials have clarified that the PAN card is not valid for free travel as it has no address. According to TSRTC, Disha noticed that some people were showing colored copies of photographs in their smart phones despite being repeatedly asked to show the original identity documents. All passengers are requested to produce their original identity document and carry void tickets. If you do not have the original identity document, you are requested to take back the ticket after paying the money”, said TSRTC Director General VC Sajjanar. Some people also discussed with the staff why they accepted the zero ticket. This is wrong. The government reimburses TSRTC money on the basis of issuing zero bills. “If you travel without a ticket, it will be a loss for the organisation. Therefore, all passengers should get zero tickets. If someone travels without a ticket and is surprised by the control personnel, he will attract a fine of Rs 500”, Sajjanar said.
