Telangana: Solar power plants at homes of women group members

Telangana : The central government has launched the PM Suryagarh Yojana with the aim of reducing the burden of electricity bills, generating income, protecting the environment and promoting non-conventional energy production. For this purpose, the Telangana government is preparing to set up solar power generation units with the members of women’s groups. It has decided to install these in the homes of one lakh members every year. For this, it is planning to provide them loans at 4% interest subsidy through the Mahila Kosh of the Society for the Eradication of Poverty (SERP). There are a total of 64 lakh women members of women’s groups in the state. SERP has identified that there is a possibility of installing solar power units in the homes of about 10 lakh of them.
