Telangana News: Task force cracks down on illegal liquor sale in twin cities

Hyderabad. Hyderabad: Officers of the commissioner’s task force conducted simultaneous raids on belt shops and bar establishments in the twin cities found serving liquor early in the morning and seized 48 litres of liquor worth Rs 1.06 lakh. The teams raided belt shops in Banjara Hills, Borabanda and Chikkadpally police station limits.

Three persons were arrested during the raid and 48 litres of liquor worth Rs 1,06,000 was seized from their possession.

The arrested persons have been identified as Chittuluri Srinivas, 48, of Indiranagar, Banjara Hills, V. Narasimha, 55, of Vinayaknagar of Borabanda and M. Mallesh, 34, a resident of Sai Krishna Nagar Colony, Ramanthapur in Hyderabad and a bartender. During interrogation, the arrested persons revealed that they used to procure liquor from local liquor shops as well as sell it at higher prices after the wine/bar shops were closed during night hours, earning illegal profits from this transaction, DCP Task Force Sadhana Rashmi Perumal informed in a press release on Saturday.

The restaurant and bar named Blue Heavens in the limits of Musheerabad police station was operating till around 6.30 am, serving liquor before the permission to the needy customers by violating the rules and regulations of the Excise Department.

The accused have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action, Rashmi said
