Telangana: NEET Centers Ready Across the State

Hyderabad:Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Thursday reviewed arrangements for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET‑UG) scheduled on May 3 across Telangana, with officials outlining centre readiness, security measures and coordination plans.
Officials said 199 centres have been finalised across 24 districts with a capacity of 76,104 candidates, against 73,084 registrations this year. The exam will be held in pen‑and‑paper mode in government institutions.
Dr A. Narendra Kumar, director of medical education, has been designated state nodal officer. A state‑level coordination committee with police, National Testing Agency and other departments has been formed, alongside district‑level committees headed by Collectors.
Collectors and superintendents of police have been directed to inspect centres. One police officer will be deployed at each centre, with strict vigilance on crowd movement and suspicious activity.
Guidelines reviewed include uninterrupted power supply, CCTV surveillance, biometric verification, drinking water, sanitation and shaded waiting areas for parents. Medical camps and ambulances will be on standby in view of prevailing heat.
Security measures cover police escort for question paper transport, CCTV‑monitored storage and dual‑layer frisking. Devices such as jammers and biometric systems are to be checked and kept functional.
Candidates must report by 1.30 pm, with gates closing three hours before the exam. Restrictions on clothing, footwear and prohibited items will be enforced, along with biometric attendance and frisking protocols. Control rooms will be set up in all districts, with issues escalated immediately to the NTA.
