Telangana: Gold chain snatched from housewife

Hyderabad: An unknown man snatched a gold chain from a 38-year-old housewife in the Kummari colony under the RGIA police station in Shamshabad on Friday night. The victim, P. Jayamma, was sweeping the driveway outside her home when the attacker came from the street and snatched a four-tola gold chain from her neck. The chain’s string broke during the attack. The accused only took the gold chain and fled, leaving the chain behind.

Jayamma, with the help of her family, filed a police complaint. Officers visited the scene and launched a search to apprehend the accused. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

Funerals for 2 women killed in California crash held

Hyderabad: The funerals of Pullakhandam Meghna Rani and Kadiyala Bhavana Chaudhary, residents of Mahabubabad, who died in a car accident in California on December 29, were held in their hometown on Saturday. Their bodies arrived at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in the morning and were later taken to Mulkanur and Garla in Mahabubabad district. Family members performed the last rites, with hundreds of villagers attending.

Bhavna and Meghna, along with two others, were on a trip to California when their car overturned near Death Valley on SR-190 and Saline Valley Road. The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office said both died while undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

Cyberabad Police Arrest 5 People in Fake Job Racket

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Cybercrime Police on Saturday arrested five people for defrauding several young people by promising them jobs at renowned multinational companies.

Police said only one victim has come forward so far, reporting a loss of ₹3.2 lakh. The accused have been identified as Uppala Venkat Sai Ram, Jalli Karthik, Vinukonda Srikanth, Gurindapalli Priyanka, and H.A. Ramesh. All of them lived in different areas of Hyderabad and were actually from Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka. According to the police, the complaint was filed by a 32-year-old job seeker from Hyderabad, who said he was contacted on WhatsApp by a woman claiming to be a job consultant. She allegedly promised him a job at an MNC and tricked him into transferring ₹3.20 lakh via UPI. The complainant was given a fake offer letter in the name of Genpact Enquero and provided a false office address. After joining, he was neither paid nor refunded, and was later given a termination letter before being blocked.

Investigators said the accused, posing as HR executives, created fake email IDs and domain names similar to those of real companies, conducted fake interviews and training sessions, and transferred victims’ money through multiple mule accounts. Police suspect hundreds of victims may have been similarly defrauded.

Several mobile phones, laptops, fake documents, rubber stamps of fake companies, checkbooks, and fake ID cards were seized. The arrests were made using technical analysis, including mobile location tracking and call detail records. The accused were produced in court. A case has been registered under sections 318(4), 319(2), 316(2), 338, 336(3) read with 340(2) and 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 66-D of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Further investigation is underway.
