Telangana court dismisses BJP chief’s bail plea

Hyderabad (IANS) | A Telangana court on Thursday rejected the police plea to cancel the bail granted to Sanjay Kumar, the state BJP president and Karimnagar MP, in the Class 10 question paper leak case. The Hanamkonda district court rejected the police plea seeking cancellation of Sanjay’s bail on the ground of violation of bail conditions.

After hearing the arguments of both the sides for the last two days, the court ruled that there is no ground to cancel Sanjay’s bail.

On April 6, the court had ordered Sanjay to be released on bail with certain conditions.

The Karimnagar MP was arrested amid high-drama from his in-laws’ house in Karimnagar on the night of April 4.

The Warangal police had named Sanjay as the main accused in the leak of the Hindi question paper of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination from an examination center at Kamlapur in Warangal district.

After his arrest, Sanjay was taken to a police station in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district and then brought to Warangal in the evening. He was produced at the residence of the First Class Magistrate in Hanamkonda on April. The magistrate sent him to judicial custody till April 19. The court granted bail the next day.

Police allege that Sanjay along with other accused conspired to leak the class 10 question paper.

Sanjay and nine other accused have been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 505 (circulating any report or statement with intent to endanger public) I went.

The police also invoked Section 4(a), 6 of the TS Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices) Act and 66-D of the Information Technology Act.
