Telangana: Adequate stock of fertilizer urea available, agriculture officer

Hyderabad: The Agriculture Department has unveiled an integral scheme for the Yasangi season 2023-24, which aims to supply 19.24 lakh tonnes of miscellaneous fertilizers to meet the agricultural needs of Telangana farmers. Officials will coordinate with fertilizer companies to guarantee effective supply of fertilizers to rural supply centers with the help of the state’s nodal agency Markfed.

The Central Government allocates various types of fertilizers to the state monthly, and the Agriculture Department actively distributes them at the district, mandal and village levels as per the crop plan for the northern and southern regions of Telangana state.

In a release, officials assured farmers and elected representatives that there is no need to worry about the availability of urea and other fertilizers, or that there are sufficient reserves to supply them to farmers on time.

At present, the state government has stored 9 lakh tonnes of various fertilizers, which shows a substantial increase of 28 per cent compared to 7.01 lakh tonnes last year so far. The stock of urea stood at 4,68 lakh metric tonnes, which is an increase of 31 per cent with respect to 3,57 lakh metric tonnes during the same period during the previous Yasangi season.
