Teacher gets big relief from High Court, promotion issue

Bilaspur. Chhattisgarh High Court has canceled the order of promotion from Assistant Teacher to Teacher post by canceling the order and making him Assistant Teacher again. Petitioner Shivani Bhatt was promoted from the post of Assistant Teacher LB to Teacher LB by the Divisional Promotion Committee after 15 years of service. Along with promotion, he was transferred from village Nirjam in Mungeli district to Bilaigarh (Sarangarh). Later the order was modified and he was again posted in Pre-Secondary School, Nirjam.

After assuming charge, the Joint Director canceled the promotion order on January 31, 2024, saying that she was not eligible for promotion as per the Recruitment and Promotion Rules 2019. Also he was transferred to another school in Bilha.

The teacher filed a petition in the High Court against this order. The bench of Justice Arvind Singh Chandel has canceled the order of the Joint Director canceling the promotion and has ordered to work with promotion in the same Nirjam school as before. For this the teacher will have to give a representation within three weeks. The High Court has ordered the Education Department to resolve the case within 90 days.
