Tata Nano EV is coming soon, will be priced under Rs 10 lakh
Tata Motors continues to dominate the four-wheeler electric vehicle segment in India with the Tata Nexon EV, Tiago EV and other products. The Tata Tiago EV was launched as one of the most affordable EVs in India at a price of Rs 7.99 lakh. Now, the company is rumoured to be working on another affordable EV. This EV is expected to be the Tata Nano Electric. The Tata Nano created a buzz among Indian users due to its compact size and affordable price of just Rs 1 lakh. But, it was later discontinued.
The Nano car remains a popular model among the people even after several years of being discontinued. Now it seems that Tata might bring back the Nano as an EV. Although there is no update in the feature list of the Nano EV at the moment, it is expected to get a touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, all four power windows, semi-digital driver display and manual AC. As for safety features, the Nano EV will come equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and possibly a rear parking camera as well.
According to rumours, the Nano EV could be priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9 lakh. It is expected to offer a range of 200 km. Meanwhile, a Pune-based company called Electra EV has developed a retrofitted Tata Nano EV, which is currently owned by Ratan Tata himself. However, there is no information yet about its range and performance. In 2017, Tata Motor’s partner Jayem Automotive announced an electric version of the Nano under the Jayem Neo brand. The project was aimed at making these cars available to fleet operators. However, that never happened. If the Nano Electric was developed, it would offer a range of 203 km on a single charge.
