Tamil Nadu: Video of former MLA waving sickle goes viral
Tamil Nadu : A video of former DMK MLA from Aranthangi brandishing a sickle and scolding someone while breaking a coconut at a government function is going viral on social media.
A foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of a fire station building to be built at a cost of Rs 2.59 crore was held at Poongudi near Avudaiyarkovil in Pudukkottai district on Friday. Congress MLA S.T. Ramachandran attended the function and laid the foundation stone.
District Fire Officer Satyakeerthi presided over the function. Former DMK MLA Udayam Shanmugam, who arrived there during the programme, scolded the people present for not informing him about the programme.
Then to perform Bhoomi Pujan, he gave a coconut and sickle to the woman and asked her to break it, which calmed her down. The woman showed the sickle in her hand and scolded the MLA, which suddenly led to a ruckus.
This video is going viral on social media. It is also notable that Udayam Shanmugam has openly stated several times that Aranthangi constituency should not be given to Congress.
