Tamil Nadu: The draft voter list will be released on December 19.

Tamil Nadu: The draft voters’ list will be published across Tamil Nadu on Friday (December 19). Following this, voters with double registrations and deceased voters will be able to check their details online, said Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik.

A press release issued by the Election Commission of India on Tuesday stated: As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll is underway across Tamil Nadu. Under this process, the draft electoral roll will be published on December 19. This step has been taken in line with the Election Commission’s commitment that no eligible voter should be left out of the electoral roll.

In the period leading up to the publication of the draft voters’ list, a polling station-wise list was prepared of voters who could not be contacted by Polling Station Level Officers (PLOs) despite three or more visits to their homes, i.e., deceased, missing/wrong address, shifted, and double-registered voters.

This list has been shared with the Polling Station Level Agents (PLAs) of recognized political parties during meetings. The minutes of these meetings have been uploaded by the Polling Station Level Officers on the BLO app.

This step was taken to verify the correct status of every voter included in the polling station-wise list and to rectify any errors before the publication of the draft voter list.

After the publication of the draft voters’ list on December 19, the facility to access the details of voters who are missing/not at the given address, who have shifted, who are deceased, who are listed as double-registered voters, etc., will be provided on the websites of the respective District Election Officers. The public can verify their details in this list if needed, she added.
