Tamil Nadu: Omni bus fare increased for people returning to Chennai

Tamil Nadu : People who went to their hometowns during summer vacations have started returning to Chennai, in such a situation, the fare of omni buses has increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000. This has shocked the passengers.
Schools across Tamil Nadu are going to reopen on June 2 after summer vacations. As a result, people who went to their hometowns during summer vacations have started returning to Chennai this week. Now with the closure of train bookings, most people are dependent on omni buses. Since the travel time in government buses is long and there are many delays, many people prefer to travel in omni buses. Taking advantage of this, omni bus owners have increased their fares drastically.
Increase up to Rs 1,500: The fare of omni buses coming to Chennai from southern districts including Madurai, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari has increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1,500. Similarly, the fare of buses coming to Chennai from districts including Coimbatore and Tirupur has also increased significantly. The fare for a single passenger from Nagercoil to Chennai is up to Rs 3,500 (with bed facility).
Complaint number: When asked about this, transport department officials said, ‘More than 800 buses are being operated for the convenience of those returning to Chennai after summer vacations. Since the seat reservation for government luxury buses is not yet complete, common people can use it.
