Tamil Nadu: Nurse cuts off child’s thumb in government hospital

Tamil Nadu : A shocking incident has taken place at Vellore Government Medical College Hospital, where a nurse cut off the thumb of a baby while changing the tape applied on the baby’s hand to apply glucose and medicine.
A couple, Vimalraj (30) and Nivetha (24) from Mullipalayam, Vellore, gave birth to a baby boy at Vellore Government Medical College Hospital in Udukkamparai on the 24th. Nivetha, who was fully pregnant, gave birth to a baby boy.
In this situation, when the nurses were removing the tape on the baby’s right hand without detaching it, they accidentally cut off the baby’s right hand thumb while changing the needle inserted in the baby’s hand to apply glucose and medicine. The baby screamed in pain. Seeing this, the parents and relatives argued with the nurses. After this, the parents, relatives and people protested against the hospital administration. After this, the Vellore Government Hospital administration immediately sent the baby in an ambulance to Stanley Government Hospital in Chennai, where he will undergo surgery on his hand. The hospital administration and the police have registered a case regarding this incident and are investigating. This incident has created an atmosphere of fear among the patients undergoing treatment in the government hospital and the general public.
