Tamil Nadu: Man sentenced to 33 years in jail for sexually assaulting girl
Tamil Nadu: The Tiruvarur Women’s Fast Track Court on Friday sentenced a man to 33 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor.
Prabhudas (44), a resident of Vandampalayam near Nannilam in Tiruvarur district, sexually assaulted the girl at a house in the area in 2022, allegedly because she was concerned about the health of a cow. Police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the girl’s parents at the Nannilam All Women’s Police Station and arrested Prabhudas.
The case was being heard at the Tiruvarur Women’s Fast Track Court. In the final hearing on Friday, after finding Prabhudas guilty, Tiruvarur Women’s Fast Track Court Judge Sarathraj sentenced him to 33 years in prison and a fine of ₹15,000. He also ordered the Tamil Nadu government to pay ₹6 lakh as compensation to the victim.
