Tamil Nadu: Heavy rain warning in 6 districts today

Tamil Nadu : In Tamil Nadu, a red warning of heavy rain has been issued in two districts and an orange warning of very heavy rain in four districts on Monday (May 26).
Press release issued by Chennai Meteorological Department in this regard: Heavy rains lashed the western hill districts of Tamil Nadu as the southwest monsoon became active on Saturday.
According to the rainfall recorded till Sunday morning, the highest rainfall of 210 mm was recorded in Avalanche of Nilgiris district.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area is expected to form over west central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal on Tuesday (May 27). Due to this, moderate rains with thunder, lightning and wind are likely at some places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next 6 days.
An orange alert has been issued for Theni, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts on May 26 and for Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts on May 27 and 28. A red alert has been issued for one or two places in Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts on May 26.
It has been reported that Chennai and Puducherry areas are likely to receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning on May 26.
