Tamil Nadu has been betrayed in the Union Budget report: MDMK General Secretary Vaiko

Tamil Nadu: MDMK General Secretary Vaiko alleged that Tamil Nadu has been cheated in the Central Budget report.

Speaking to reporters after arriving in Coimbatore from Chennai by plane on Monday, he said:

The Union Budget has not reduced the prices of petrol and diesel. There are no schemes to promote textile mills. Tamil Nadu has been cheated in this budget. Overall, this budget is very disappointing. The expectation of receiving more funds due to the upcoming assembly elections in five states is also disappointing.

They say that the European Union agreement will help them avoid American taxes. But, the European Union trade agreement will only come into effect after April 2027, so how will the Central government manage until then? They say they are going to borrow ₹11.7 lakh crore. In this situation, achieving 7 percent growth is unacceptable. Funds have not been allocated for existing projects.

We have never demanded a share in governance or a share in power. We have no such intention. The DMK will definitely form the government with a clear majority. It is a good thing that India is supporting Palestine as a separate state. That is also our stand.

We can only talk about seat-sharing when a committee is formed for election negotiations. Within three hours of the DMK forming this committee, the MDMK will also form a committee. We cannot say right now how many seats we will demand. Some people are saying whatever comes to their mind. But we will not say that, he said.
