According to government sources, Vijay Narayan, recently appointed as Attorney General for the Tamil Nadu government, assumed his new duties on Thursday. With his assumption of office, the legal system of the new government has formally become operational. This appointment is considered significant in terms of accelerating administrative and judicial work under the new political system.
Following this, the government has accepted the recommendation of the Chief Public Prosecutor and authorized senior advocate John Sathyan to appear on behalf of the state government in criminal cases in the Chennai High Court. John Sathyan will now represent the government in cases in which the state government is a direct party. In addition, the government has issued orders appointing senior advocates P.V. Balasubramaniam and D. Gautaman as Additional Advocate Generals. These two advocates have been entrusted with important responsibilities, including representing the government in the High Court and other judicial forums.
The government order also clarifies that these appointments will be temporary. These officials will hold their positions until the permanent appointment process is completed under the rules for appointing government lawyers. This is intended to ensure that there are no delays or administrative obstacles in judicial matters.
Following the formation of the new government, it is believed that the process of reorganizing the administrative and legal structure has accelerated. According to legal experts, such changes are aimed at ensuring effective representation of the government in the courts and expediting the disposal of pending cases.
