Tamil Nadu: For the first time, a 15-coach suburban electric train is being manufactured.

Tamil Nadu: For the first time in the country, a 15-coach Suburban Electric Train (SER) has been manufactured at the Chennai ICF and shipped to Mumbai.
Suburban electric trains operate in major cities across the country, including New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. Each train has 9 to 12 coaches.
As a result, the Western Railway Zone commissioned the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai to manufacture 15-coach Suburban Electric Trains (SER) to ease congestion in the Mumbai area.
Following this, work began on the 15-coach EMU train a few months ago. The work is now complete and test drives have been conducted. After completing all tests, the 15-coach EMU train was shipped to Mumbai on Thursday (February 19).
ICF General Manager U. Subbarao congratulated NSR Prasad, Chief Engineer of the Coach Manufacturing Group, and the workers on the occasion. Officials stated that work on manufacturing 12 15-coach trains has begun.
