Tamil Nadu: Final voter list released today

Tamil Nadu: The final voter list in Tamil Nadu will be released on Monday (February 23) after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik will release district-wise voter details.
In Tamil Nadu, 9,737,831 voters were removed from the draft electoral roll after receiving special emergency correction enumeration forms. This reduced the state’s voter count to 54.3 million.
Of the 6.6 million voters whose names were removed, eligible and new voters, excluding deceased voters, were given the opportunity to re-enroll by filling out Form 6.
Consequently, notices were sent to 1,243,363 people who had not provided the required information in the draft voter list. They were advised to submit the required documents and self-declaration certificates.
Meanwhile, in accordance with a Supreme Court order, the Election Commission of India issued certain instructions on the 30th of last month. According to this, the details of those whose names were removed from the voter list due to providing incorrect information should be published along with the reasons in the village panchayat office, public places, block/sub-division offices, and ward offices in urban areas. The Election Commission stated that those on the list can submit documents and objections along with valid reasons within 10 days, either in person or through a representative.
Following this, a list of discrepancies was published and time was given to submit the documents. After this is completed, the final list of voters will be published on Monday. This will reveal how many people are eligible to vote in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
