Tamil Nadu: Encroachments are taking place at the central bus stop.

Tamil Nadu: Complaints have been received that the footpaths in the Central Square bus stand area in front of Chennai Central Railway Station have been encroached upon by street vendors.
Central is the oldest railway station in Chennai. The area is home to important landmarks such as the Corporation Ribbon Building, Southern Railway Office, Nehru Stadium, Court Complex, Park Railway Station, Metro Railway Station, and Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital.
Because Central Railway Station is a vital part of Chennai and is used by millions of people every day, the Chennai Corporation constructed a structure called Central Square there under the ‘Polivuru Nagar’ project. Buses serving Central Railway Station and the surrounding areas are supposed to stop at the Central Square bus stop.
Encroachment by shops: Due to traffic congestion, shops were prohibited in the area. Additionally, the bus stand on Periyar Road was shifted approximately 10 meters inside the railway station premises. However, temporary mobile shops selling cold drinks and snacks like pani puri are currently operating in front of the bus stand. Autorickshaws are also being parked near these shops.
