Tamil Nadu: Early symptoms detected in 33,869 people through kidney tests

Tamil Nadu : The Public Health Department has reported that 33,869 people across the state have been detected with kidney disease through special tests that detect kidney damage at an early stage and have been referred for advanced treatment.

Of these, more than 500 people were found to have chronic kidney disease and kidney failure. They are being provided continuous treatment.

The Tamil Nadu government is implementing the Kidney Bachao programme to detect kidney disease in people at an early stage.

Under this, people from all areas are screened to detect kidney damage at an early stage.

In this regard, Selvavinayagam, Director of the Public Health Department, said:

This test is being conducted at all primary health centres and sub-health centres in Tamil Nadu. Urine samples of people receiving treatment are collected there and immediately tested for high protein levels using a test strip.

If so, their next step would be to check their urea and creatinine levels and refer them to a nephrologist for medical treatment. This will help detect the disease at an early stage and get treatment. Dialysis treatment can be avoided. According to this, more than 1.07 crore tests have been done at health centers so far. Out of these, 33,869 people have been found to have symptoms of kidney failure and have been referred for further investigation and treatment. He said that more than 500 of these people have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and have been treated.
