Tamil Nadu: 6 lakh people applied to get their names added to the voter list in 2 days.

Tamil Nadu: More than 600,000 people applied to add their names to the voter list and change their addresses at special camps organized by the Election Commission across Tamil Nadu on Saturday and Sunday (January 3 and 4).

The Chief Election Officer of Tamil Nadu stated on Tuesday that a total of 620,133 petitions were received in 38 districts, with the highest number of petitions (47,206) in Coimbatore district, followed by 41,704 in Salem, 36,847 in Chengalpattu, 27,359 in Chennai, and 26,720 in Tiruvallur.

The process of adding names to the voter list has been ongoing since December 19. So far, two special camps have been held on Saturday and Sunday.

Those who have attained the age of 18 and whose names have been removed from the voter list are filling out and submitting Form 6. The deadline for submitting these forms is January 18th. As of January 5th, 1,183,576 people have submitted applications.

Meanwhile, polling station officials are personally visiting the 1,243,363 people on the draft voter list who have not provided complete information and sending them notices. Their reasons will be considered by February 10th, and the final voter list will be published on February 17th.
