Tamil Nadu: 48th flower exhibition starts today in Yercaud

Tamil Nadu : The 48th Summer Festival and Flower Show begins at Yercaud in Salem district on Friday (May 23). The festival, which will continue till May 29, has been organised by the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department, Tourism Department and Art and Culture Department to entertain tourists through various artistic performances and sports competitions. On the occasion of the Yercaud Summer Festival, the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department will organise men’s and women’s trekking on the Yercaud Mountain Trail at 7 am on Friday. This will be followed by tiger dance and silambattam performance by Salem Silambisai Silambatta group, Bharatanatyam performance by Mamallapuram Vinayaka Natyalay art group, folk performance by Madurai Dakshinamoorthy art group and western dance performance by Step Up dance group at the Yercaud Art Hall by the Tourism Department. Saturday: On Saturday (May 24) at 10 am, the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department will organize a men’s football match at the Retired Sports Ground, the Integrated Child Development Department will organize a youth walking competition, stoveless cooking competition, cart competition and salt sack lifting competition for children at the Yercaud Art Gallery, and the Tourism Department will organize a folk dance performance by Pudukottai Anandam Dance Academy group, Palasuvai performance by Eesa Kendra Cultural Academy group, Bharatanatyam performance by Dindigul Ithaya Academy group and western dance performance by Madurai Yuddhra Kalaikoodam group at the Yercaud Art Gallery. Sunday: On the 25th, the Animal Husbandry Department will organise a dog show at the open ground in Yercaud, the Tourism Department will organise a Salem Silambarasan mimicry performance at the Yercaud Kalaiyarangam, a melodious performance by the Guru Orchestra group, a semi-classical dance performance by the Chennai Nalini Academy group, a Golat performance by Sowrayan Malaikalar Golatka Art Group and a Pambai Music performance by the Sivasakthi Pambai Music Group at the Art and Culture Department. Monday: On the 26th at 10 am, the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department will organise a shot put competition for government officials and the public at the Retired Sports Ground, a boat race at the Yercaud Boat House by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation, a performance of Eena-Ezhuchi songs of Kalaimamani Iraiyanban Kuthus Avar at the Yercaud Art Hall by the Tourism Department, a traditional dance performance by the Chennai Sri Natya Kala Mandiram Art School, a Mohini Attam dance performance from Palakkad and a puppet show.
