Talasani demands ₹20,000 crore for BC welfare

Hyderabad: As per the election promise made to BCs, who constitute 50 percent of the population, the government should allocate Rs. 20 thousand crores in this budget for the welfare of BCs, former minister and deputy floor leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav has urged the government. He spoke in the assembly sessions held on Wednesday. He said that the Congress party has already presented two budgets since it came to power.

The fee reimbursement arrears are up to Rs. 10 thousand crores and the government should pay them immediately, he said. He said that many students are facing difficulties due to fee reimbursement arrears. KCR has brought the Jyothirao Phule Overseas Program to provide financial assistance to BC students pursuing higher education abroad, and he asked that funds be released immediately to the eligible students under that scheme.

He expressed his concern that the Congress party is looking down on the BC community. He reminded the Congress party of its promise before the elections to implement 42 percent reservation for BCs. He accused the government of ignoring the fact that the bill will not become legal if it is tabled in the Assembly and that it will become legal only if the central government includes it in the 9th schedule.

He said that the absence of top party leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in the dharna organized by the Congress party in Delhi is a testament to their sincerity towards the BCs. He said that ministers and MLAs from the BC community in the Congress party are also facing difficulties due to BC issues.
