Speaking to media persons after the mining controversy in the Assembly on Saturday, Harish Rao said that the Chief Minister’s claim that he had distanced the firm from Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy was false. He said that the company is directly linked to the minister’s family, and identified his wife Madhuri, son Harsh Reddy, and brother Prasad Reddy as directors. He asked, “How can close family be called distant relatives?” and noted that the company itself was named after the minister’s father.
He accused the Chief Minister of engaging in diversionary politics by ordering an investigation into mining leases since 2014 and accusing BRS leaders of involvement in the mining business. He accused the Congress government of evading accountability for alleged mining irregularities and demanded strict action.
Former minister and Suryapet MLA G. Jagadeesh Reddy said the government has been resorting to intimidation for the past 12 years by announcing investigations into mining activities. He condemned the government’s attack targeting BRS leaders and reminded them that the Congress party failed to prove its allegations against them. He reiterated his demand for a House committee to investigate illegal stone crusher operations.
He said, “Such attacks and threats are not new to us. Both Revanth Reddy’s previous and current bosses targeted BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao during the Telangana statehood movement. Now, Revanth Reddy is targeting BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao and senior leader T. Harish Rao.” Telangana State News
