SUV segment remained strong in India in March, Maruti and Mahindra were at the forefront

New Delhi: Indian auto companies have seen a big jump in SUV sales in March. This is due to the increase in private consumption and the strengthening of the economy. Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra and Kia India performed well in the SUV segment last month.
The country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki India’s SUV sales grew 4.5 percent year-on-year to 61,097 units in March 2025, as against 58,436 units in the same period last year. Maruti Suzuki’s total sales in March grew 3.1 percent to 1,92,984 units as against 1,87,196 units in March 2024.
The company has also recorded its highest ever annual sales of 22,34,266 units in FY 2025, including domestic sales of 17,95,259 units and exports of 3,32,585 units. Mahindra & Mahindra sold 48,048 units in the domestic market in March with an 18 per cent year-on-year growth.
Last month, the company sold 50,835 units of vehicles including exports. Mahindra’s total sales in March 2025 stood at 83,894 units. It has seen a growth of 23 per cent year-on-year. At the same time, the company has sold 5,51,487 vehicles in the entire FY25. Kia India’s domestic sales in March grew 19.3 per cent year-on-year to 25,525 units as against 21,400 units in March 2024.
Sonet was Kia’s best-selling model, accounting for 30 per cent of sales, followed by Seltos, Carens and Siros. Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior VP and Head – Sales and Marketing, Kia, expressed confidence in the continued growth of the brand, saying that the Kia Siros has received an overwhelming response and the company continues to focus on innovation and customer satisfaction.
