Suryakumar’s form is nothing to worry about: Piyush Chawla

New Delhi, (IANS) | Defending batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who was dismissed for a duck on his first ball in Mumbai Indians’ thrilling last-ball win against Delhi Capitals, veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla said that his form is nothing to worry about. This was the fourth golden duck for Sky in his last 6 innings (3 ODIs and 3 IPL). Chawla said in the post-match press conference, “Surya’s form has never been a concern. He only needs 10 balls to make a comeback in this format. You hit four fours, you will be back in form.” Got out on the ball but it happens, that was the situation. The shot he played, could have gone for a four or a six but he hit the boundary. The kind of batsman Surya is. His confidence is high And it is just a matter of 10 balls and he will be back in form.”

Chawla took three wickets for 22 runs in this match and broke the back of Delhi’s middle order. Delhi were 51/1 in the powerplay but Chawla dismissed Manish Pandey, Rovman Powell and Lalit Yadav after conceding eight runs in his first over.

He credited his performance to constant match practice. He was not bought by any team in the 2022 auction and became a commentator. He said, “I am a player who prefers to bowl four overs in a match rather than bowling in the nets. You have to know whether the ball is a good ball or a bad ball in the match. I make sure that whenever I get the time May I play a lot of matches.”

“Whenever there are good tournaments – All India SPJ Cup season two in Delhi and DY Patil in Mumbai – I have played in both tournaments and also domestic white ball cricket for Gujarat. These matches are enough to prepare me. I also make sure that I work on my fitness as well.”

Chawla said, “I am not playing much cricket like domestic and competitive but I make sure that in whatever matches I play, I give more than 100 per cent because local matches or club matches, you go and you take your confidence. get lost.”

“You come and bowl but I make sure I bowl to the best of my ability,” he said.
