Supreme Court shocks Manoj Bajpayee’s film.. ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ title must be changed!

The Supreme Court has expressed its strong displeasure over the title of the film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ starring Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role and ordered the producers to change it immediately. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court alleging that the title of this film, which is directed jointly by Neeraj Pandey and Ritesh Shah and stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role, is derogatory to a community. The Dharmasanam, which heard the petition, made moving comments.

A bench comprising Justice B.V. Nagaratna and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, while hearing the case, strongly commented that no one has the right to insult a particular social group in the name of freedom of speech and that the existing differences in the society should not be further aggravated by such titles. The court, considering the petitions filed that the addition of the word ‘Ghooskhor’ (corrupt person) to the word ‘Pandit’ is hurting the sentiments of the Brahmin community, clarified that the release of the film will not be allowed until a new name is finalized and an affidavit is filed. Reacting to this, Netflix and director Neeraj Pandey’s team assured that they will change the title as per the court’s orders. Netflix has already removed the posters and teasers related to the film, and the next hearing is scheduled for February 19.
