Supreme Court bans CBI investigation into teacher recruitment scam

New Delhi. Mamata Banerjee’s government has got a big relief in the alleged teacher recruitment scam case in Bengal. The Supreme Court has stayed the CBI investigation in this case with immediate effect. The Supreme Court has also decided to hear the petition of Mamata government against the decision of Calcutta High Court.

The Supreme Court has stayed the CBI investigation in the recruitment case of teachers appointed by the School Service Commission till further orders. The Supreme Court will hear the petition of West Bengal government on May 6. Let us tell you that Mamata Banerjee government had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the decision of Calcutta High Court. The High Court had canceled the recruitment for teachers and other posts in schools in 2016. After this, 26 thousand people have lost their jobs.

West Bengal government has not yet got complete relief in the teacher recruitment scam. The Supreme Court has also not stayed the decision of the High Court under which the appointment of 24 thousand teachers and non-teaching staff was cancelled. The hearing of this case will start in the Supreme Court from May 6. Calcutta High Court had declared these recruitments illegal.

Apart from this, the court had also ordered that those who have received their salaries should return them. Mamta Banerjee government reached the Supreme Court and said that the High Court gave its decision to cancel the appointments only on the basis of oral arguments. Mamta government has demanded from the Supreme Court to stay the decision of the High Court. It has been said in the petition that if such a large number of recruitments are canceled then the schools will also suffer a huge loss.
