Suburban electric train services have been reduced due to development work at Egmore railway station.

Tamil Nadu: Due to development work at Chennai Egmore Railway Station, changes have been made to suburban electric trains as previously planned and announced.

The Chennai Railway Division issued a press release on Saturday: Renovation work at Egmore Railway Station, scheduled for 45 days, has commenced. Due to this, some suburban train services on the Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu section have been temporarily cancelled and some have been rescheduled. Misinformation about train services may cause confusion and fear among passengers. It is advised that train passengers should only rely on official and authorized information channels of Southern Railway.

8 express trains will stop at Chennai Mambalam Station

Due to development work at Egmore Railway Station, suburban electric train services will be operating from platforms 5 and 6 instead of platforms 10 and 11 from Friday (February 20). Therefore, from Sunday (February 22) to April 6, 8 fast and superfast trains will be stopped briefly for 2 minutes at Mambalam Railway Station.

It has been reported that the Egmore-Trichy Cholan Express (No. 22675), Egmore-Kanyakumari Express (No. 12633), Egmore-Puducherry Express (No. 16115), Egmore-Sengottai Pothikai Express (No. 12661), Egmore-Madurai Pandian Express (No. 12637), Egmore-Nellai Express (No. 12631), Egmore-Salem Express (No. 22153), and Egmore-Mannargudi Express (No. 16179) will be stopped and run at Mambalam Railway Station.

60 Extra Buses on Main Route: Mankara Transport Corporation

Due to renovation work at Egmore Railway Station, suburban electric train services on the Coast-Tambaram-Chengalpattu route have been altered. Therefore, Southern Railway has requested the Metropolitan Transport Corporation to operate additional buses on the main route for the convenience of train passengers.

Accordingly, in addition to the regular buses, a total of 60 buses are being operated starting Saturday: 27 buses from Royapuram Temporary Bus Stand to Kalampakkam, 15 buses from Pallavaram to Chengalpattu via Tambaram, 8 buses from Egmore Railway Station via Secretariat, 5 buses via Nungambakkam, and 5 buses via St. Thomas Mount Railway Station. Additional buses will also be operated based on passenger demand.
