Subsidy of Rs 97.95 crore released for maintenance of government schools

Tamil Nadu : 50 per cent subsidy (Rs 97.95 crore) has been released for the maintenance of 37,476 government schools in Tamil Nadu.
A circular was sent to all District Primary Education Officers on behalf of the State Project Directorate of Integrated School Education in this regard:
The Project Approval Committee of the Union Ministry of Education has recommended providing subsidy to government schools for recurring expenditure under Integrated School Education for the academic year 2025-2026. Therefore, now funds have been released to the districts to provide 50 per cent amount to all government schools in the first phase.
According to this, depending on the number of students, funds ranging from a minimum of Rs 10 thousand to a maximum of Rs 1 lakh have been allocated to the schools. A total of Rs 97.95 crore has been released for 37,476 government schools across Tamil Nadu. This amount should be spent on priority basis. It should also be used to purchase SIM cards for portable computers (tablets) of teachers (Rs 110 per teacher).
Similarly, expenditure should be made on separate hand washing facilities for students, safe drinking water, sanitation, building maintenance, etc. Procurement activities for schools should be completed by February 15.
Subsidy should be used within the stipulated time following the guidelines. It has been told that the expenditure report should be sent to the Principal Education Officer along with the Utilization Certificate.
