Subsidy and fund assistance for 2.88 lakh SHGs under the Mission Shakti program.

Odisha: The state-level ‘Subhadra Shakti Vision Summit’ was held on Wednesday at the Mission Shakti Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. Organized by the Mission Shakti Department, the event saw the participation of approximately 330 executive committee members from District-Level Federations (DLFs) representing all 30 districts of the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida—who also holds the portfolios for Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism—was the chief guest at the event. On this occasion, she released significant financial assistance to the state’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

According to official data, ₹147.76 crore was released as interest subsidy to a total of 2,88,198 SHGs across the state. This assistance aims to strengthen the groups financially and boost their activities.

Additionally, ₹45.71 crore was provided as a Revolving Fund (RF) to 23,536 SHGs across 26 districts. During the event, the Deputy Chief Minister handed over cheques worth ₹30,000 each to representatives of the ‘Maa Mangala SHG’ and ‘Shriram SHG’ from Khordha district.

Furthermore, assistance amounting to ₹189.57 crore was provided under the Community Investment Fund (CIF) to 624 Gram Panchayat-Level Federations (GPLFs) across 27 districts. Representatives of the ‘Abhayamukhi GPLF’ and ‘Gualipada GPLF’ from Puri district were presented with cheques worth ₹35 lakh each on stage.

Assistance totaling ₹9.64 crore was also provided under the Vulnerability Reduction Fund (VRF) to 656 Area-Level Federations (ALFs) across 15 districts. Representatives of the ‘Rampur ALF’ and ‘Jahana ALF’ from Jajpur district were handed cheques worth ₹1.50 lakh each. The objective of this summit is to financially empower women’s self-help groups and encourage them to pursue self-employment and community development. The government believes that such schemes will strengthen women’s economic participation in both rural and urban areas.

During the event, representatives from various districts shared their experiences, noting that these schemes have improved the economic condition of their groups and created new employment opportunities.
