Student union elections in JNU on March 22, date announced
Delhi. Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union elections have been announced after four years. This time the student union elections will be held on March 22. Announcing the student union elections, the Election Committee of JNU said that the voter list will be prepared on March 11 and nomination of candidates will start from March 14. Voting for the student union elections 2023-24 will be held on March 22. After this the votes will be counted and the final results will be announced on March 24. The panel has stressed the imperative need for any possible improvement in the status of voters. The list will have to be prepared long before filing nominations. Apart from the election process, the committee has also informed about plans for several other major events. One such event is the debate for the post of Student Union President, which has been organized for open dialogue between the candidates. Apart from this, there will be a series of GBM, which will be a platform for conversation and discussion on contemporary issues.
Describing the importance of these events, Election Committee Chairman Shailendra Kumar said that they not only facilitate interaction between candidates and voters but also ensure transparency and integrity in the electoral process. He urged the students to actively participate in all these events and play an important role in shaping the future leadership of the institute. Apart from this, Kumar said that the detailed schedule for GBM will be released only after the final list of contesting candidates is confirmed. He said that the committee is deeply committed to the smooth and fair conduct of the elections while maintaining the rich democratic traditions of JNU.
