Student hanged himself on the night of board exam, committed suicide in hostel toilet

Odisha. A heart-wrenching incident was witnessed in Odisha on the first day of matriculation examination. There was a sensation in the district after the dead body of a class 10 student was found in his hostel room late on Monday night. On receiving the information, the police arrived and registered a case and started investigating the matter. The student of Vishwatma Vidyamandir in Khuzenpali area of Balangir district was scheduled to appear for the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination starting on Tuesday.

According to initial reports, the candidate was found hanging from a towel inside the toilet of the school hostel in the morning. Fellow students immediately informed the school authorities about this. The officials immediately took the student to the nearest hospital, but the doctors declared him dead. It is feared that the student might have committed suicide due to the immense pressure associated with the examinations. However, investigation into the matter is ongoing. On the other hand, a relative of the student said, “We have found marks on his neck. It seems it is murder. There was no problem of any kind with our child. There needs to be a proper investigation in this matter. We want justice.”
