Student ends life in Telangana college, second suicide in a month
Hyderabad (IANS)| A student of a government medical college in Telangana’s Nizamabad district committed suicide on Friday. M Sanath (22), a second-year MBBS student, hanged himself in the early hours in his hostel room at Nizamabad Medical College.
On receiving the information, the police reached the college and took the body for postmortem examination.
Police checked Sanath’s mobile phone and found that he had sent an SMS to his parents at 3.11 am before taking the extreme step.
In this message, he has apologized to his parents and brother. He also requested his brother Sai to come from America and stay with the parents.
Sanath, a resident of Peddapalli district, had recently appeared for the second year theory exams, while the practical exams were to be held from Monday.
According to Indira, the principal of the college, Sanath studied with his classmates till 2 pm. Later the students went to their respective rooms.
Police said he was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a bedsheet. The reason for the suicide is yet to be ascertained, said a police officer. We are investigating.
Sanath is the second student of the Nizamabad Medical College to commit suicide in a month.
Dasari Harsha, a final year MBBS student, had hanged himself in his hostel room on February 25. He was a resident of Adilabad district.
Harsh was a brilliant student and used to get good marks in all the examinations. College officials said that Harsh had health issues and that could be the reason behind his extreme step.
In May last year, Shweta, a postgraduate student of the same college, had committed suicide.
