Strict action will be taken against unauthorized sale of narcotics: Collector Langeh
Mahasamund. A meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee was held today in the Collectorate hall under the chairmanship of Collector Vinay Kumar Langeh for comprehensive and effective control over unauthorized dealers of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Singh was also present on this occasion. Collector Langeh said that action should be taken against unauthorized dealers of such narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. He said that since this district is adjacent to the border of Odisha state, there is a possibility of unauthorized dealers buying and selling such drugs. Action is also taken by the police. If you also keep an eye on this, it will be curbed. He has instructed to take immediate action especially if bio-medical waste, syringes or tablets are found in garbage collection centers in urban bodies.
Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Singh said that for the prevention of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the district, a meeting of drug dealers should be held and guidelines should be given and monitoring should be done. Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances come under the category of medicines for the treatment of any disease. The Food and Drug Administration Department should keep a strict vigil on the purchase and sale and in case of violation, action should be taken as per the rules. Instructions have also been given to compulsorily install CCTV cameras in every medical shop. He said that special vigilance should be kept in this regard in industrial areas and field staff as well. Instructions have been given to run awareness campaigns in schools and colleges by coordinating. He instructed to increase the action under the Kotappa Act. The Superintendent of Police has given clear instructions to take strict action if found selling narcotic substances unauthorizedly.
The Superintendent of Police said that all effective steps should be taken against drug abuse and its trade in the district. Strict vigil should be kept in the border areas of the district. He said that most of the crimes happen due to intoxication. He said that the Food and Drug Administration should keep a strict vigil on the purchase and sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances which come under the category of medicine for the treatment of any disease. Assistant Drug Controller Food and Drug Administration gave information in this regard. Committee members, Chief Medical and Health Officer, District Excise Officer, Deputy Director Social Welfare, General Manager District Trade and Industry and other officers were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Singh said that road accidents are increasing continuously in the district. The main reason for this is not wearing seat belt or helmet, along with this, consumption of intoxicants is also an important factor. He appealed that all citizens and government officers-employees should compulsorily use seat belt or helmet while driving, otherwise challan action will be taken against them too. He instructed not to use cargo vehicles like pickup, tractor, truck etc. as passenger vehicles. He said that if found doing so, the license will be cancelled immediately. Instructions have been given to all Sub-Divisional Officers Revenue and Tehsildars for its compliance.
