Strengthen Gram Panchayats by promoting social forestry: Union Minister Giriraj Singh

Raipur. Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh held a review meeting of officers related to Panchayat and Rural Development at NTPC’s Kaveri Bhawan in Korba late yesterday evening. He did a detailed review of MNREGA, NRLM, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Land Records Modernization, Watershed, Amrit Sarovar and other schemes in the district.

Union Minister Shri Singh directed to make efforts towards strengthening the Panchayats by encouraging the production of Char, Chironji, Banana and Papaya in the district, promoting animal husbandry and establishing social forestry.

Union Minister Singh gave instructions to plant Char-Chironji saplings in the residential premises of interested farmers including government houses.

He asked to ensure participation of women under the Livelihood Mission and link them to other beneficial activities including animal husbandry, planting of fruit trees. He also instructed the women group members to benefit from Ayushman Card, Labor Card, Security Insurance, Jeevan Jyoti Insurance Scheme.
