Stop Diarrhea Campaign 2025 launched

Mahasamund. Stop Diarrhea Campaign 2025 was launched today from Urban Primary Health Center, Mahasamund with the aim of preventing deaths due to diarrhea among children aged 0 to 5 years and reducing infant mortality rate in the district. This special campaign will be conducted from 16 June to 31 July 2025. The program was inaugurated under the guidance of Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. P. Kudeshiya in the presence of District Health Officer Dr. V.P. Singh and District Nodal Officer Dr. Arvind Gupta.

The objective of the program is to ensure widespread public awareness and prompt treatment for the prevention of diarrhea in children. Under this campaign, a list of households with children aged 0-5 years will be prepared and Mitanins will visit every house. One ORS packet will be distributed in each house, while diarrhea affected families will be provided 2 ORS packets and 14 zinc tablets. During the visit, Mitanins will also provide information on the method of making ORS solution, correct handwashing procedure and correct use of zinc. Method of use of zinc in diarrhea – Half tablet (10 mg) will be given to children of 02 to 06 months and 01 tablet (20 mg) will be given to children of 06 months to 05 years. This tablet will be given with mother’s milk or clean water in a spoon for 14 days.

Monitoring teams have been formed at district and development block level for effective monitoring of the campaign. These teams will visit health institutions, schools and Anganwadis and inspect awareness activities. Also, health tests and awareness work will be done in Anganwadi centers by RBSK teams. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. P. Kudeshiya has appealed to the general public to go to the nearest schools or Anganwadi centers with their 0-5 year old children and get information about making ORS solution, hand washing technique and method of use of zinc and adopt these measures in daily life, so that children can be kept safe from diarrhea and other infectious diseases.
