STF seizes brown sugar worth 1 cr from government quarters in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The crime branch STF on Sunday have seized brown sugar worth Rs 1 crore from a government quarters in state capital of Odisha and have arrested one drug peddler in this connection.
The accused drug peddler have been identified as Chittaranjan Sahoo, son of Charan Sahoo of Sinabandhur of Dhenkanal district.
On basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by STF members at Unit-8 Bhubaneswar with the help of Commissionerate police last evening against illegal dealing and possession of Narcotic drugs and apprehended one person in this regard.
During the search, contraband brown sugar weighing 1 kg 107 gm and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from his possession. As the accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of contraband materials. The accused person was arrested and will be forwarded to the court in Khordha.
In this connection STF have registered a case under NDPS Act 1985. Investigation is on.
The special drive against narcotic drugs is continuing. Since 2020, STF has seized more than 69 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 Gram Cocaine and more than 113 quintals of Ganja/Marijuna, Opium 750 gram and have arrested more than 168 drug dealers/peddlers.
