Steps towards digital good governance through e-office

Mahasamund. The Mahasamund district administration is rapidly progressing towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India revolution and Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai’s commitment to good governance and transparency. In line with the government’s priorities, the e-office system has now gained momentum in almost all departments of the district. Most work is now being conducted online through e-office, replacing traditional paper files. 1,366 officers and employees in the district have been onboarded for e-office. To date, the office has processed over 2,000 file movements through e-office correspondence.
Under the guidance of Collector Vinay Kumar Langeh, most of the Collectorate’s work is now conducted through the e-office system. In recent departmental meetings, he issued clear instructions that all government correspondence, routine files, and financial approvals should now be prepared and transmitted through e-office. Even small note sheets are now being recorded digitally.
The Collector stated that this change is not merely a technological one, but also a symbol of improvement in administrative work culture. This will not only speed up file movement but also ensure transparency and accountability in the decision-making process. The e-Office system now enables online tracking of files. This will clearly indicate which officer has a pending file and for how long. Collector Langeh says that e-Office is the foundation of the government’s transparent and accountable administrative system. Unnecessary delays will no longer occur, and deadlines will be automatically set. The Collector reviews deadlines in weekly meetings and receives summary reports from all departments. This provides clarity on how many files have been received through e-Office so far and which departments have seen the most implementation.
For the smooth operation of e-Office, all officers and employees have become proficient in the processes of file creation, note sheet writing, and document uploading. Any technical issues that arise are immediately resolved with the assistance of NIC and the technical team. Three training sessions have been conducted for officers and employees.
The government intends to ensure that all correspondence in the future is conducted exclusively through e-Office. This step marks a major shift from traditional work styles to digital, transparent, and accountable administration. It is saving time, speeding up work, and establishing better coordination between departments. By now, e-Office IDs have been created for all departments in the district, and correspondence is being conducted through them.
