Srinagar Police and CRPF launch CASO in Lal Chowk, conduct surprise checks of hotels

Srinagar, November 28: Srinagar Police, along with personnel from the 132nd Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force and the women’s company of the 213rd Battalion of the CRPF, conducted a joint cordon and search operation and a surprise verification drive in the Lal Chowk area of ββthe city on Friday morning. Officials said the operation focused on hotels, guest houses, and other accommodation facilities. It was part of enhanced security measures based on intelligence inputs that anti-national elements might attempt to misuse accommodation for illegal activities.
During the operation, teams checked the credentials of guests and staff members and verified hotel management records. Officials said these checks were conducted systematically to ensure that no illegal or suspicious individuals were staying in the area. The women’s team was specifically deployed to search and verify women.
A senior police officer told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that this joint operation was part of preventive security measures aimed at maintaining public safety and law and order in Srinagar’s busy commercial areas. He said such operations would continue in other parts of the city to ensure a safe environment for local residents and visitors. Police also advised hotel owners and managers to strictly follow guest verification rules and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
