Sridhar Babu: Speaker will take decision on opposition’s demands

Hyderabad: Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu said that Assembly Speaker G Prasad Kumar will take a decision on the demands of opposition parties. He said that the BRS has no moral right to speak on law and order, crop loan waiver and funds for local bodies. He said on Tuesday that the Congress party had appealed for discussion on welfare and development and the government was committed to holding the session for maximum number of days. Discussion on the budget has to be completed in three days. Though there was scope to hold the session for several days, the BRS government did not hold the session for more than eight days, he responded to allegations by former minister T Harish Rao. “We are not avoiding any promise made to the people. All efforts are being made to streamline the financial sector in the state,” Sridhar Babu said. Regarding the central budget allocation, the minister said that an appeal had been made to the central government to allocate funds to undertake various development works. He said that like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana should also be given top priority in fulfilling the promises made under the AP Reorganisation Act. “We will continue to fight with the Centre over allocation of funds to the state. In fact, the BRS has failed to get the funds that are legally due to the state,” he alleged. He said BJP leaders should put pressure on the Centre to allocate funds to the state. He said a progressive state like Telangana should not be cheated by the central government.
