Sri Lankan Navy arrested six fishermen from Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Sri Lankan Navy arrested six fishermen from Thangachimadam and Rameshwaram on Monday. They were arrested by the Navy when they had gone fishing in the sea near Nedunthivu. Police in Rameshwaram told IANS that the Sri Lankan Navy had seized two boats, carrying six fishermen, near Nedunthivu.

Earlier, 18 fishermen from Tamil Nadu were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on January 16. After which he was sent to judicial custody. The Sri Lankan Navy also seized two mechanized boats in the middle of the sea.

The arrested fishermen were identified as A. of Thangachimadam. Caesarean, S. Samantha Babu, M. Nishanthan and N. of Rameshwaram. Performed as Murugesan. The boats are owned by A. of Thangachimadam. Issac (47) and Easter Arokkiados (43). All the arrested fishermen were taken to Kankesanthurai port and will be produced in court.
