Spurious liquor was being consumed in Kabirdham, two arrested

Kabirdham. Police have furthered their investigation into the manufacturing of counterfeit country liquor in the district, arresting two more accused from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. This action is part of an ongoing investigation to uncover the counterfeit liquor network. The arrested accused are Rakesh Kohli and Mohan Prasad Gupta, both residents of Jharkhand.

During interrogation, Mohan Gupta revealed that he worked as a furniture polisher and imported spirit (chemicals) from Kolkata to supply it to illegal liquor networks in Jharkhand. This is how he connected with the network of the accused arrested in the Podi area—Nand Kumar and Sajid. Accused Rakesh Kohli stated that he manufactured various brands of counterfeit liquor in Jharkhand and, through prior acquaintance with Sajid, came into contact with the Podi-based gang. He also reportedly taught the Podi gang the liquor manufacturing process and supplied necessary packaging materials. Police examined call detail records, mobile locations, financial activities, and other digital signatures of the network. Based on this information, the team monitored the activities of both accused and arrested them in Jamshedpur.

The previously arrested accused include Nand Kumar Kurre, Islam alias Suddu, Sheikh Sajid, Chhotu alias Dinesh Chandravanshi, and Idris Khan alias Pintu, all residents of Chowki Podi, Bodla police station, Kabirdham district. According to the police, this accused is connected to this network and is currently in jail in connection with a marijuana transportation case. Police are preparing to take his remand and interrogate him further.
