Solar power generation reaches new peak in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu: Solar power generation has reached 548 million units, an all-time high.

Private companies in Tamil Nadu are generating electricity through the installation of high-capacity solar power plants. Furthermore, recently, low-capacity rooftop solar power plants have also been installed on the rooftops of several government and private buildings to generate electricity. Consequently, there are currently a total of 11,969 MW of solar power plants across the state. These generate an average of 40 million units of electricity daily. The generators sell the remaining electricity to the Electricity Board after use.

On August 20, 2025, 539 million units of electricity were generated. This was the highest level of solar power generation to date. Furthermore, a few days ago, solar power plants generated 548 million units of electricity, an all-time high. Green Energy Corporation officials have stated that this amount will increase further in the future.
