Solan: A person died after a stone hit a vehicle

Solan: One person was killed and three others injured when a boulder fell on a Bolero camper vehicle near Datiyar on the Parwanoo-Dharampur section of National Highway-5 at around 3:17 am on Monday. The vehicle, carrying a local daily newspaper published from Punjab, was on its way from Jalandhar to Shimla.

According to officials, the deceased has been identified as Dev Raj (40), a resident of Phagwara, while the injured include Kuldeep Singh (40), a resident of Garhshankar, Vandana Sondhi (43), a resident of Jalandhar and her son Bhavook (23). The vehicle suffered front damage after a heavy boulder fell on it.

Solan SP Gaurav Singh said a passerby informed the police about the incident, in which one person died on the spot, while the others are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Parwanoo. “Further investigation is on,” he said.
