Snowfall in high altitude mountainous areas of Himachal, weather will remain bad for six days

Chamba: The high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh are covered with snow. Snowfall continues in the high mountain areas of Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti and Chamba districts of the state. Even in the capital Shimla, it is cloudy since morning. The chill has increased due to the drop in temperature. In many areas of district Kullu and Lahaul, life has not yet returned to normal as the weather has taken a turn again. Snowfall has started in the higher reaches of district Kullu and Lahaul valley from Monday night.
25 cm fresh snowfall has been recorded in Rohtang Pass, 12 cm in South Portal of Atal Tunnel, 8 in North Portal, 5 cm each in Sissu and Keylong. More than 100 roads are closed in rural areas in the tribal district Lahaul. At the same time, Highway-305 in Kullu has been closed for buses for the last three weeks. The district administration has advised tourists and common people to travel keeping in mind the weather. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of avalanche in Lahaul Valley.
The weather will remain like this till March 4
Meteorological Center Shimla has predicted rain and snowfall in many parts of the state today. There are chances of bad weather at some high mountain places on 28th February also. A fresh western disturbance is likely to become active in the state from February 29. Due to this, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning in many areas of the state from March 1 to March 3. During this period, there is a possibility of snowfall in the high mountain areas. The weather may remain bad in some high mountain places on March 4.
