Smuggling liquor worth lakhs in Maruti car
Sarangarh Bilaigarh. During the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Excise Department in the district, in accordance with the instructions of Excise Commissioner cum Secretary R Sangeeta and Collector and District Election Officer Dharmesh Sahu, in Bilaigarh area under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Excise Divisional Flying Squad Bilaspur Shri Vijay Sen Sharma and District Excise Officer Sonal Netam. Action was taken. During the village patrol of Excise Circle Sarsiwa, the Excise Department received information that a person from village Naktidih was speeding towards village Jamgahan Churela by keeping raw Mahua liquor in a white colored Maruti Alto vehicle number CG 10 FA 1725. On confirmation of the information, he immediately went to village Churela with the excise team.
Seeing the vehicle coming and waiting for the said vehicle number, the vehicle was stopped by the team. The driver of the vehicle was informed about the informer’s information and was asked to cooperate in the search of his vehicle and the contents of the vehicle. The Excise Sub-Inspector along with the team duly searched the vehicle and the contents kept in it. During the search, about 10 liters of hand kiln produced raw Mahua liquor filled in a large polythene membrane of 20 liters capacity was recovered from the vehicle. Upon questioning, the driver admitted that the liquid was raw Mahua liquor which he was carrying for sale. When the liquid obtained on the spot was tested, it was found to be raw Mahua liquor, the liquor was sealed and the liquor and the vehicle were taken into custody by the Excise Department. A case under Chhattisgarh Excise Act Section 34(2) 59(a) has been registered against the driver and the accused Rajkumar Vishwakarma, father of Grahan Vishwakarma, is being duly arrested and sent to court custody. Excise sub-inspector Vipin Pathak, excise constable Dhaneshwar Rao, security guard Lochan Sahu and driver Rustam had special contribution in the proceedings.
